The Ice Cream Festival with more
than thirty flavours, each one delicious.
The Pro Loco of Massa Martana, with the sponsorship
of the Municipality of Massa Martana, pays homage
to the prince of the summer with its "Ice
Cream Festival", planned for mid-August in
the picturesque historical centre of the town,
brought back to its ancient splendour by careful
restoration in the wake of the 1996 earthquake.
Ice cream has always been one of the favourite
foods of the Italians, in fact we consume more
than 10 kg per capita a year, a fact which places
us third highest consumers world-wide, after Americans
and Australians.
Good and nutritious,
in summer ice cream offers pleasant coolness
and is fresh delicacy for all, from children
to the elderly. The Ice Cream Festival in Massa
Martana, which attracts thousands of visitors
from all the Italian regions for its originality,
is the sweetest festival in Umbria, for the
deliciousness of the ice cream and the generousness
of the portions, a real treat for those who
let themselves be tempted by the desire for
ice cream. The organisers have ensured that
chocolate ice cream will triumph at the festival.
Chocolate, the food of the gods, presented with
all the new flavourings, orange, cinnamon, hot
red pepper, coffee, with rum, eggnog or delicious
creams. Yoghurt ice creams will also be featured
in the variations with honey and fruit, especially
for young people and for visitors who pay attention
to calorie content!. The Ice Cream Festival
is part of the rich programme that the Pro Loco
of Massa Martana has organised for the "Giornate
Massetane" which feature cultural, sport
and artistic events and great concerts.
