Branch celebration
November 15th 2020, Spello

This celebration was an ancient agricultural tradition to celebrate the production of olives. After the harvesting period farmers celebrated the “buonfinita” (the good period of the harvest) fitting an olive branch ( “frasca” in Umbrian dialect).
The people who partecipated at this event danced the “saltarello”, recited folk songs, drank good wine and ate local dishes.
To fit this olive branch these people used some fruit, candies, ribbons and children toys.
Nowadays this celebration is done in the centre of Spello.
