Living Crib of San Gregorio di Assisi

The San Gregorio castle was built in 1114 and then it was enclosed by walls because of its position (it is between Assisi and Perugia) and because the fight between these two towns. Its structure is medieval: sandstones, river pebbles, the entry door with an ogival arch…
This living nativity scene began in San Gregorio in 1992 by the idea of some teenagers from Torchiagina of Assisi.
The visit to the living nativity scene will be by foot and there aren’t a lot of difficulties. But the pebbles doesn’t let people with children walk freely. Nevertheless there are two living angels who will help you if you will have some problem.If you have some problem to walk, please call this number before coming: +39 392.0861949.
In the castle you can eat some homemade bread and cheese (free). In addition you can eat some bruschette and drink mulled wine (paid). Outside the castle you will find a kiosk where you can buy something to eat and/or drink (sandwiches, torta al testo…).
