Olive Oil Dop Umbria Colli del Trasimeno

Olive Varieties
The “Umbria” Protected Denomination of Origin (D.O.P.) quality seal accompanied by the geographic indication “Trasimeno Hills” is reserved for extra virgin olive oil obtained from the following olive varieties: no less than 15% Moraiolo and Dolce Agocia olives; no less than 65% of both Frantoio and Leccino olives. The oil may contain up to 20% of other olive varieties.

Growing areas
Olives destined for the production of extra virgin olive oil carrying the “Umbria” Protected Denomination of Origin (D.O.P.) quality seal along with the geographic indication “Trasimeno Hills” are grown in the following municipalities in the Region of Umbria: Perugia, Piegaro, Paciano, Panicale, Castiglione del Lago, Magione, Tuoro sul Trasimeno, Passignano sul Trasimeno, Lisciano Niccone, Umbertide, Città di Castello, Monte S. Maria Tiberina, Corciano, Citerna, San Giustino, Montone, Pietralunga.

Consumption Characteristics
Extra virgin olive oil carrying the “Umbria” Protected Denomination of Origin (D.O.P.) quality seal from the “Trasimeno Hills” area must meet the following standards:
Colour: from green to golden yellow
Aroma: light to medium fruity
Taste: fruity with a medium or slight bitter and spicy sensation.
Maximum acidity, expressed in oleic acid, in weight, no be greater than 0.65 grams per 100 grams of oil.
Panel test score: >=7.00
Number of peroxides: <=12
K232<=2.0
K270<=0.20
Oleic acid <=81%
Total polyphenols >=100ppm
