Bosco FAI di San Francesco
Description:
A visit to the Bosco of San Francesco, a wonderful example of the italian rural landscape, is an interior adventure in search of harmony. You are invited to walk along the narrow path that begins at the Basilica of San Francesco passing through wooded sections, cultivated fields, clearings and olive groves. Reaching the valley you will find a little Benedectine Complex of Santa Croce that includes a church, a mill and the remains of a monastery. You can walk along a second path that brings you to a very impressive clearing where you can admire a land-art work created by Michelangelo Pistoletto for the Bosco of San Francesco.
There is also the possibility of having lunch or a cup of coffee at the Osteria del Mulino, a very cosy little restaurant inside an old water mill. Otherwise there is a very nice PIC-NIC area with tables and benches. All the area was restored by FAI, FONDO AMBIENTE ITALIANO, a partner of the National Trust.
